In the summer of 2019, Haley and Brian's paths crossed at Riverway, a summer camp in Sanger, CA. Haley, being Brian’s boss, had initially set out to find him a girlfriend, unaware that Brian had already set his sights on her. From the beginning, their connection was undeniable, but as the camp season ended, they decided to go their separate ways, not wanting to deal with the challenges of a long-distance relationship. They kept in touch as distant friends, their bond remaining strong.

By 2021, things took a surprising turn. Brian, now a manager at Riverway, called Haley and asked if she would return. Haley, immersed in internships in San Francisco and a full summer school schedule to finish her bachelor’s degree early, was hesitant. Yet, after a week of non-stop conversations and a realization of how much they missed each other, Haley decided to drop everything and return to camp. The excitement of working together again as managers was thrilling, and Haley was ready to rekindle their connection.

Haley’s first impression of Brian was that he was an exceptional worker, incredibly nice, and a goofball who was great with kids. Brian, on the other hand, saw Haley as a creative, free-spirited soul with a commanding presence who knew how to control a crowd.

Their relationship blossomed with numerous memorable moments. Haley moved back from Colorado, giving their relationship a real shot. They frequently visited Disney, which became their magical escape, a place where they could relive their childhood joys. Thanks to their families, Disney held a special significance for them both. They celebrated significant milestones together: Brian graduated from college, they moved into their first apartment, and they adopted Conrad. When Zero appeared on their doorstep, they welcomed him, giving Conrad a brother.

Their journey wasn’t without challenges. Both were laid off in the same week, a tough blow that tested their resilience. They faced the loss of family members and endured lengthy job searches, navigating the complexities of life together. Despite these hardships, their bond only grew stronger. They traveled to Hawaii for a family wedding, marking Haley’s first visit, and she proudly graduated from college. They cherished laughter-filled days, cooking together, exploring new gluten-free eateries, and binge-watching "The Price is Right." They loved taking trips, attending concerts, and enjoying quiet moments over tea with their beloved cats.

Haley and Brian’s relationship was also marked by fun hangouts with friends and trips to Sacramento, where they indulged their love for the state capitol’s history. They grew up together, figuring out life’s mysteries and building a future hand in hand. They complemented each other perfectly: Haley was the uptight one, while Brian was laid-back, perfectly complementing one another. In 2021 they found themselves to be essentially the same people they were in 2019, just with more life experience and a deeper love.
